Sixty years ago, some devoted friends of music in Waukesha County founded what soon became one of the Midwest's finest orchestras - and now, in 2007 we all get to share in their wonderful legacy as the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra celebrates its Diamond Anniversary Season!

Each of our seven concerts this season will celebrate, through music, the seven decades of the WSO's existence - from a gracious nod to a full-blown extravaganza. I'll be back to once again conduct our pre-Fourth of July outdoor spectacular, which will take a look back at the favorite musicals fo the 1950s. Our Fall Season opener will not only showcase two of the greatest symphonic masterpieces of the 1940s, but will also feature the amazing Leon Bates, one of America's great pianists, in Beethoven's remarkable "Emperor" concerto!

I'm sure you'll also be pleased to hear that the Waukesha Symphony will be evenly dividing its season among three different venues, each one perfect for teh music you'll experience. We will be returning to our historic home at Carroll College's Shattuck Auditorium and to our new second home, the intimate majesty of the Chapel at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield where we sold-out last year. Ad finally, I'm very happy to say that once again we will be presenting two pairs of concerts at the magnificent Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield. With two beautiful programs in each of these three glorious spaces we will truly fulfill our desire to be the orchestra serving all of Waukesha County.

Full of extraordinary music spanning the centuries, with extraordinary soloists and our own extraordinary Waukesha Symphony, all presented in our unique WSO style, 2007-2008 at the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra promises to be a rare gem of a season - I so much hope that you'll join us!

Musically yours ,

Alexander Platt, Music Director
